  3. You are looking at the welcome message for MAX and SCR. Please do the
  4. following now:
  5.  
  6.     1)    Read  the  file  \MAX\DOC\CONTRACT.DOC.  If  you  are  not
  7.         willing to enter into this agreement, destroy the contents
  8.         of this diskette.
  9.  
  10.     2)    Add your name to the end of the file \MAX\DOC\DISTRIB.LST.
  11.  
  12.     3)    If you don't know EMACS,  connect to directory \MAX and do
  13.         the following:
  14.  
  15.             >MAX DOC\TUTORIAL.DOC
  16.  
  17.         This should give you a brief introduction to MAX.
  18.  
  19.     4)    Connect to directory MAX and edit  ( i.e. read )  one  file
  20.         in \MAX\DOC after the other. Especially \MAX\DOC\DIFFER.DOC
  21.         should prove to be helpful. Try the on-line HELP ( CTL-_ ).

  23.     5)    Don't forget to send us the required note within 6 months
  24.         after your acquisition of this copy. Note that if you have
  25.         received your copy directly from us ( i.e. by sending us
  26.         $15.00 and receiving two diskettes from us ), you will not
  27.         have to send us this note.

  29. We hope you will enjoy using MAX and SCR. Please note that they are NOT
  30. final commercial version ( if there should ever be one ), but more a good
  31. beta test. Nevertheless, you will find that they contain more power than
  32. some commercial word-processors. We always welcome suggestion, remarks and
  33. comments and wish you the best.

  46. P.P.S.:    If you wish to modify MAX to your own machine, fgrepping for
  47.     [SCREEN] should give you a good idea of where to look. Also,
  48.     look into FDEF.DEF and change the obvious definitions.
